Hazel Lim is a Singaporean artist who just recently completed her postgraduate degree in Fine Arts at the Lasalle College of the Arts in July 2008. Although trained in painting, she frequently uses painting mediums together with fabric and other materials to create her works. Her interest lies in the exploration of the notions of displacement, history, memories and imaginary landscapes. More recently, her postgraduate studies led her to create works that questions the idea of representation itself, which was articulated through works that include object making, text and paper folding.

Besides teaching at the Lasalle College of the Arts, she has experiences in other aspects of art such as gallery management and contributing to artistic publications. She has also participated in several group exhibitions as well as international exchange program such as the Creative Camp 2003 (organized by ASEF in Paris), the International Artists’ Workshop in Khe Ga, Vietnam, 2005 as well as Documenta: Openspace, International Workshop for Art Academies in Kassel, Germany during 2007. Hazel is also the Associate artist with the Substation where she held her first solo painting exhibition entitled Secret Windows at the Substation Gallery in July 2004.
